Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge is located in the heart of the beautiful Mary River Wetlands 2 hours drive east of Darwin via the Arnhem Hwy. The lodge is named after the explorer John McDouall Stuart who trekked through this area on his successful journey from southern Australia to the northern coast in 1862.

Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge was once known as Jimmy’s Creek Abattoir which processed the huge numbers of water buffalo that inhabited the wetlands during the 1960’s to the early 1980’s, & was part of the original Point Stuart Station.

Perfectly situated, it is the ideal base to explore the wilderness of Australia’s Top End – Mary River Wetlands, Shady Camp Reserve & Kakadu National Park.

“Use Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge as your
base to explore the wonders of the pristine
Mary River Wetlands”

The lodge is nestled beside a monsoonal Vineforest only a short distance from Australia’s premier barramundi fishing hotspot Shady Camp.

The Lodge offers air-conditioned budget & deluxe accommodation with private facilities.

Hire boats are available to explore & fish the wetlands at your own leisure or take a guided fishing tour.

The Mary River Wetlands Cruise is a must! Home to the largest concentration of saltwater crocodiles. Sightings of Jabiru’s, sea eagles, whistling kites & many more bird species & wildlife across the floodplains.

Hunting safaris are also available targeting the cunning wild boar.

The many 4wd tracks & walks in the area offer amazing photographic opportunities.
